The Laramie Project: 10 Years Later

On the evening of June 1, 2012, the New Conservatory Theatre Center will be coming to the Don Bagget Theatre at Nevada Union High School to perform “The Laramie Project: 10 Years Later”. This is a production about what the Tectonic Theatre Project people learned when they returned to Laramie to try and understand the long-term effects of the murder of Matthew Shepard. The performance will begin at 7:00 PM and there will be an intermission in addition to a question and answer session with the performers afterwards. This is an event the entire family should see.

The event is sponsored by SSHS (Safe Schools/Healthy Students), The Suicide Prevention Task Force, and PFLAG. The suggested donations are $5 for adults, $3 for students and seniors. No one will be turned away.  Proceeds from the event will benefit HALO ( HIV/AIDS Local Outreach ) and PFLAG’s youth programs.

This is bound to be a packed house so be sure to put the date on your calendar and attend this really special performance of a very moving and historical event.

This link will take you to an interview with Matthew Shepards’s mom Judy on the Ellen DeGeneres show and couldn’t say any better why we need to continue working towards equality and fair treatment of all human beings.
